Martell A cognac both sophisticated and straight-forward, a true reflection of asserted personality of its eaux-de-vie, carefully selected in the Creation cellar, where eaux-de-vie from 1900 are preserved. Primary notes evoking ginger bread and dry fruits, soon complimented by the refreshing aroma of orange marmalade, lemon zests and orange tree flower, culminating in a subtle finale of nice rancio notes, with a mix of walnut stain, curry paste and cedar wood. Taste: A soft and silky feeling releasing the mellowness of this first instance and reinforcing the smoothness of the sophisticated blending. This initial mellowness is then intensified by an incredible length in mouth, bringing the flavors into full bloom. |
Delamain Cognac aged in wood from a single vineyard and single cask. At present, the Family Reserve comes from a brandy distilled just after World War II by a master "bouilleur de cru" (grower-distiller), in the heart of the Grande Champagne. First nose subtle but firm scents of pepper, spirit, and wood. The bouquet adds traces of grapes, paraffin, and spice. Palate entry is honey sweet, woody, and even a touch bacon fat-like. Midpalate stage is memorable for the semisweet tastes of marzipan, English toffee, and egg cream. Finishes as elegantly as it begins. |
Baron Otard Baron Otard Extra 1795 offers a rich, complex bouquet of dried fruit (plum and grape), orange peel, hazelnut, and cigar box. This profusion of aromas further explodes on the palate providing incomparable pleasure, thanks to the mellowness of the old Champagne eaux-de-vie. |
Martell Deep dark copper color. Warm melted buttery caramel and anise seed aromas follow through on a soft, silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with caramelized pear, peach, and apple notes. Finishes in a vibrant peppery spice and praline accented fade with slate minerality. |
Menuet Opening bouquet emits echoes of once-ripe fruit, oak and cheese-like rancio. Aeration assists this bouquet by adding touches of prunes and black plum. Palate entry offers flavors of bittersweet chocolate, orange pekoe tea and cocoa butter. Midpalate comes on strong with vivid tastes of toasted walnut, almond butter, bacon fat and brown sugar. Aftertaste is rich, almost syrupy. |
